Description: Victoria Albuquerque is a female artist, maker and creator based on the south coast of England, near Lewes in East Sussex. Her 2-dimensional paintings are known for their structural formality and bold colours. For Victoria, life happens in a collection of small moments in life. Her visual exploring’s represent that. Collecting those moments tells a story.
This painting is from a collection of domestic based still life paintings. Finding life uninspiring during the second lockdown in 2020, she played around with the things that were to hand and found a new low light that came through a small south window. The contrast between the sunlight and the shadows were a challenge to paint.
