Shepherd's Hut and Car

Shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

Part of a series which explores identity.

In 2020 I painted a couple of paintings of straight washing lines; they were Blue Towel and Royal Academy Summer Exhibition exhibited What Would Happen If I Wasn't Here? A year on and I wanted to expand on this washing line/identity these, locally I found a location of washing lines which really appealed to me. I produced two paintings; one with washing in it, and one with the washing absent from the painting. Shephard's Hut and Car is the painting without washing. There is something between the two objects, a contrast; the Shepherd's hut that sits on wheels, made for the ease of moving around and a car, also on wheels, designed to move around too.

Printed with archival inks on 308gsm cotton rag Hahnemuhle Paper, hand finished.

Each print includes a white border.
