Award winning Hand Finished Edition 'A Year of Washing' - Giclée Fine Art prints
A Year of Washing
Shortlisted for a Jackson's Fine Art Prize
Part of a series which explores identity.
In 2020 I painted a couple of paintings of straight washing lines; they were Blue Towel and What Would Happen If I Wasn't Here? In 2021, I searched to find a different shaped washing line. I looked at painting Lee Miller's washing line at the local Farley's Farmhouse, Chiddingly, but it was not really her washing-line, it was the house keepers and it was in a field hidden behind the house. A Year of Washing was painted from a friend's garden, I enjoyed the contrast of the old Listed building dating back to 15th century and the modern rotary which was designed to take a lot more washing at one time.
Printed with archival inks on 308gsm cotton rag Hahnemuhle Paper, hand finished.
Each print includes a white border.
